So you think you are getting top quality gray, ductile and high silicon-moly (Hi SiMo) irons?  We KNOW you are and can prove it!  Bremen Castings Inc. has the tools and the talent to verify iron quality at every step of the process, from the incoming raw materials to the final shipped casting or machined component.  In-house capabilities include:
  • optical emission spectroscopy (OES)
  • carbon and sulfur determination by combustion
  • metallographic preparation and imaging
  • thermal (cooling curve) analysis
  • immersion and infrared temperature monitoring
  • fully integrated metallurgical database with instant access at all workstations and desktops
  • complete state-of-the-art Simpson+Gerosa sand laboratory for green molding and resin-coated sands
  • real-time ladle weight display during the entire pour
  • BHN casting hardness with pre-set AQL levels as a module of the metallurgical database system
  • coordinate measurement machine (CMM) with laser-scanning capability
  • in-process Hartley sand testing
Additionally, we utilize premiere independent laboratories and test facilities to provide additional data to meet both internal and external requirements.  Some of the services utilized:
  • physical and chemical metallurgical testing
  • x-ray and dye-penetrate testing
  • fatigue and durability testing
